Weekend binge or a month of evenings? Choosing a series by length

The three kinds of binge, weekend, month and year, with the series that fit each, and how to plan a season around your week.

The weekend binge

Four to twelve hours from first episode to last: a Friday night, a Saturday and a Sunday afternoon. The weekend binges shelf holds them, among them MobLand, Shōgun, Loki, Peacemaker, Solo Leveling and the Korean school drama Weak Hero.

A month of evenings

Thirteen to forty hours, an episode or two a night: the natural length of a good streaming drama and of a sixteen-episode K-drama. The month shelf has Reacher, Silo, Ted Lasso, The Pitt, Squid Game, Crash Landing on You and Frieren.

The year-long binge

A hundred and fifty episodes and more: a companion for every weeknight of a year, the kind of series you can start in September and still be enjoying in June. The year-long shelf has The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Criminal Minds, Supernatural and NCIS.

Planning a season

Add a series to My List, mark episodes as you go, and the season page shows how many hours remain. A long run fits well beside a short one: a weekend binge on Saturday, a year-long companion on weeknights.
